This was inspired by the numerous books I've read. I'm going to mention the less popular references. The toast that says "got to HQ" is from the Ruby Redfort Series, and she was a field agent so she would have these cool gadgets like the toaster oven that wrote messages from her boss onto the toast. Like a fax machine, but this way you can eat the evidence.
The lemonade is obviously from a book called Make Lemonade.
The gummy worms are from a book called Mockingbird which is a personel fave (I've read it about 10 times, no lie) about a girl who has Aspergers and she names all her gummy worms before she eats them. I recommend it to the highest degree.
The doll under the bed is the Coraline doll, who spies on kids and reports to the Other Mother, who spins her vile web to keep you with her forever.
The candles are from the Blue is fog Nightmares series. (AMAZING thriller)
All the cupboards are from 100 cupboards.
The red scarf signifies that you are a Dreamer, from The Night Circus.
The kite is from The Milk of Birds.
The tapes are from 13 Reasons Why, a book about a girl who makes 13 tapes that tell the reasons why she committed suicide.
And then the zines from Hard Love. I cried during that book a lot, even though it wasn't particularly sad, it was.
I could improve on my ways of coloring. I was at a loss on how to color it in and so I used crayon. But I like doing little experiments. Such as the stars in the window and the polka dots on various furniture, that was white out. And that with cupboard? That was white out over black crayone stripes. And the mirror on the door? I used clear coat nail polish on that. It worked really well but when one side of the mirror turned out perfectly, the other side was not as perfect. But oh well.
My process started with making a list of objects from my favorite books. Then I taped 2 sheets of paper, and drew out my perspective room, adding details as I went. And then I photocopied it (because it got somewhat crumpled) on fresh pieces of paper. And lastly I colored it.
My favorite part was how the door turned out, I don't think I could've made it any better. I also love the window seat.
