I made this out of a mixture of Karou's elements including her horn and her blue hair, her wishbone necklace and skuppies, and Brimstone's stringed teeth. If you don't understand this at all, please read the book, its a good one! (;
1) What project did you choose? I chose the Hybrid project. In this project we were supposed to take a picture of our upper body then put it into Sketchbook (an iPad art app) and trace all the lines of your clothing. Then you find a picture of the head of an animal you feel represents you. You then trace the animal's head in Sketchbook so that it is situated where your head would be. Then you color it or do whatever you like. It will make more sense when you see the Hybrid I made. 2) Why did you choose this project over the other project? I am more "Let's draw" then anything else which is why I chose this project over the stopmotion video other people were making. I'm probably going to be making one on my own time though, ever since I saw how cool other people had made theirs. They even included stopmotion AND drawing! (Cough cough Nina and Carlie cough cough) (: 3) What are you most proud of from the final results? am most proud of the texturization my painting included, even to this day I had no idea which combination of which tools I used to color it in like that! A mystery.
4) What apps did you use? Sketchbook? Pic Shop Lite? PS Express? iMotion? ArtRage? As I've already explained, I used Sketchbook, but if you want a good quality art app, I recomend Art Rage, which I used to color in my hybrid. Sketchbook is all well and good, but their utensils create bland solid colors sometimes, it makes your art look like it was colored in with crayons. If you want texture, go with Art Rage. 5) Tell me what you did in the app? Explain the app and how to use it as if you have never used it before. Please include Screen shots of the app! In Sketchbook I uploaded my clothes picture as the bottom layer, then created a new layer on top and traced my clothes. Then I deleted the bottom layer, leaving the tracing. Then I took the mouse picture and did the same as with the clothes picture. Then I colored it in Art Rage.
1) What project did you choose? I chose the Twisted Reality project. We were given a list of weird words and their meanings and were told to choose one of them to illustrate. I chose the word Tomash, which is a tomato so soft it squishes in your hands. 2) Why did you choose this project over the other project? I felt like doing more of a drawing kind of project, the Lenticular painting (cutting 2 pictures into strips and gluing them side by side then folding the paper accordion style so that when you look one way you see one picture and when you look the other way you see the other picture) was too "cut and paste" for me, it probably wouldn't go over well with glue and me being frenemies... And I'm glad I chose what I did, it was an interesting and unique project. 3) What are you most proud of from the final results? As I said in the video, I was super happy about how my project turned out. It seriously looked like a painting that would be hanging in a Mexican Restaurant. I love Mexican food SO MUCH!
4) What apps did you use? Sketchbook? Pic Shop Lite? PS Express? I used the Sketchbook app, for those of you who are not familiar, sketchbook is a drawing app. Then since I didn't have any idea what other app to put it in, I cut the border of my screenshot in Photos. 5) Tell me what you did in the app. Explain the app and how to use it as if you have never used it before. Please include Screen shots of the app! I outlined my picture I made on regular paper with black ink in Sketchbook. And then I colored everything in like a coloring book page. The color changing part and the tools are in the middle button at the top of the page. I also made sure to make different layers. My original photo was at the bottom, in the middle was where I colored it in, and at the top was my outlining. It took me awhile to figure out how to order my layers. 6) What did you LIKE about using voice thread and getting feedback from UNI students? The idea was cool, but the free version of VT stunk. It was bad. And the comments were cool.
